I am fortunate to have the opportunity to join “Team Burien” at a time when community-inspired opportunities present themselves to solve current challenges within our city. I have obtained a great deal of knowledge about Burien and our region while getting to know members of the City Council, City staff, and our community. I look forward to combining their knowledge and experience with my experience in leading organizations through change so that we may continue to help Burien grow and thrive.

I hope to bring the best out of our staff by supporting them with the resources they need and empowering them to provide the high-quality service deserved by our community. As we approach our 30th anniversary as a city, it’s important to think about the future of our community. We have an opportunity to invest in a government organization that can deliver services that support equitable, smart, and mindful growth.

It is important to share with you that City staff work very hard to address the critical needs of the present, while also working to address the needs of the future. This year we are launching many planning initiatives designed to obtain and incorporate your voice into the planning process. I encourage everyone to stay involved in conversations about our next budget cycle as well as our long-term planning efforts to shape the next twenty years of policy and programming in our great city.

During my first few months in Burien, I have heard over and over again that the city must work in partnership with members of the community.  This message resonates deeply with my appreciation for teamwork, which is why I look forward to working with our school district, public safety partners, local nonprofits and cultural institutions, and community leaders to bring greater success to our city. It takes everyone, working together, to create the community that we can all be proud of.

My door is open. Tell me what you think it will take to help Burien grow into a city that works for all.
