The City of Burien is collaborating with the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle to provide paid internship opportunities for Burien youth where they will develop digital marketing, branding, and other essential job skills. Students will have the opportunity to explore career pathways in digital marketing and branding and learn how to further their education in this field.

A cohort of high school student interns is currently learning basic digital marketing skills while developing a profile, story, and social media channels for Burien business owners participating in Burien’s “digital main street” website, ShopLocalBurien.com. Students learn how to market a small business using multiple social media channels, including Instagram and Facebook, as well as create a Google Business profile for small business owners in Burien who may not have an existing online presence.

After completing the six-week internship, students receive a stipend of $500 for participation, earn invaluable resume-building experience, and help local small businesses reach new customers and build future economic resiliency.
