Burien Community Center Restroom Modifications

Location: 14700 6th Ave SW

Project details: The project added a single-room restroom and renovated current multi-stall restrooms. All restrooms are accessible (ADA compliant).

Project status: Construction was completed March 2022.

Lake Burien Memorial Park Improvements

Location: 1620 SW 149th St

Project details: This project replaced the playground and walking pathway at the park. Some improvements are ongoing, including a new fence along SW 149th St, installation of new park furnishings and landscaping, and a new catch basin in the field.

Project status: Initial construction was completed in 2021, with remaining work scheduled to occur this spring.

Moshier Memorial Park and Stormwater Improvements

Location: 430 S 156th St

Project details: This project makes significant stormwater improvements to the parking lot and park, completely renovates the parking lot adding walkways and planter strips, converts the baseball and softball field to synthetic turf using a wood infill to provide additional recreational uses, including youth soccer and lacrosse. The project will also replace the restroom and concessionaire building.

Project status:  Construction of the new and updated facilities are 80% completed. Project is scheduled to be finished by end of May.

RapidRide H Line

Location: Ambaum Boulevard SW between SW 116th Street (north city limits) and SW 150th St (Burien Transit Center).

Project details: King County Metro is upgrading Metro Bus Route 120 to RapidRide H Line. It will provide connections from neighborhoods in Burien, White Center, and West Seattle to downtown Seattle and connections to other bus service and light rail. The H Line project includes pedestrian and vehicle safety improvements, including enhanced bus stops, a dedicated bus lane, and more.

Project status:  Work continues but has been delayed because of the ongoing concrete supplier union strike. More info at kingcounty.gov/rapidride/h or email at rapidride@kingcounty.gov.

Burien Community Center HVAC Replacement

Location: 14700 6th Ave SW

Project Details: This project will replace the 50-year-old HVAC system with an up-to-date energy-efficient system that will provide higher quality ventilation within the Burien Community Center.     

Project Status: Begins September 2022
