Friendship of an Orca and a Butterfly Student Mural by Amaranta Sandys

This mural was created by 7^th grade students from Big Picture Middle School led by teaching artist, Amaranta Sandys.  Students learned about the mural process, selected visual elements to create the composition, and painted the design on the Environmental Science Center building at Seahurst Park.  The result was a celebration of universal themes: kindness to animals, friendship, gender identity, and sharing food which is illustrated by the whale eating a cherry ice cream next to a monarch butterfly indulging in popcorn.
